Ionetix is seeking a Director of Radiation Compliance & Environmental Health & Safety Lansing to ensure operations are conducted in accordance with regulations of the NRC, Agreement States, OSHA, DOT, and all state and federal regulating agencies. This role will also serve as our Corporate Radiations Safety Office (RSO).

- Manage and oversee surveillance of radioactive materials (RA-226, Ac-225, At-211, Ga68, N-13, and others), including routine monitoring, special surveys, and responding to events.
- Identify and administer applicable safety and regulatory training and compliance programs.
- Provide training, development, and oversight of the site RSOs.
- Train and enforce all DOT procedures and requirements.
- Perform internal and external regulatory audits, including facility audits, and provide timely responses.
- Proper filing of health physics reports.
- Serve as the primary source of radiation protection information for employees at all levels of responsibility.
- Compliance oversight to employees responsible for the preparation of all shipments of radioactive material, as well as the receipt, opening, and delivery of all shipments of radioactive material arriving at Ionetix facilities.
- Oversee the distribution, processing, and monitoring of employee dosimetry equipment.
- Coordinate the radioactive waste disposal program.
- Manage the safe storage of all radioactive materials not in current use.
- Ensure sealed sources are leak-tested at proper intervals.
- Maintain inventory of all radioactive materials and limiting the quantity of radionuclides at the facility to the amounts authorized by the respective license.
- Review license procedures and controls based upon sound radiation protection principles, to ensure occupational doses and doses to members of the public are as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
- Use procedures to prevent and/or minimize contamination and use proper decontamination procedures.
- Respond to and investigate incidents and events.
- Develop and maintain all files, applications, internal audit schedule, reports, corrective actions, and reviews in accordance with continuous improvement efforts.
- Review and submit License Applications and permits to support operational facilities.
- Work in a collaborative fashion with departments and management in the pursuit of adherence to documented processes and the development of key performance indicators for the radiation safety program.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Physics, Radiation Biology, Radiochemistry, Physics or related field of study
- M.S. Physics, Health Physics, Radiation Biology, Radiochemistry or related field of study, preferred
- Five (5)+ years related experience
