Ionetix is seeking a Manager of Radiation Compliance & Environmental Health & Safety Lansing, MI to ensure operations are conducted in accordance with regulations of the NRC, OSHA, DOT, and any other state and federal agencies as needed. This role will also serve as the site Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).

  1. Surveillance and oversight of radioactive materials (RA-226, Ac-225, At-211, Ga68, and others), including routine monitoring, special surveys, and responding to events.
  2. Identify and administer applicable safety and regulatory training and compliance programs.
  3. Radiation Safety Officer on the NRC license.
  4. Train and enforce all DOT procedures and requirements.
  5. Assist with regulatory audits (lead RAM audits/inspections) and provide timely responses.
  6. Engage in proper filing of health physics reports.
  7. Serve as the primary source of radiation protection information for site employees.
  8. Compliance oversight of employees responsible for the preparation of all shipments of radioactive material, as well as the receipt, opening, and delivery of all shipments of radioactive material arriving at Ionetix facilities.
  9. Coordinate the:
    • radioactive waste disposal program
    • distribution, processing, and monitoring of employee dosimetry equipment
    • safe storage of all radioactive materials not in use
  10. Maintain inventory of all radioactive materials and limiting the quantity of radionuclides at the facility to the amounts authorized by the license.
  11. Review license procedures and controls based upon sound radiation protection principles, to ensure occupational doses and doses to members of the public are as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
  12. Use procedures to prevent and/or minimize contamination and use proper decontamination procedures.
  13. Respond to and investigate incidents and events.
  14. Oversight and executive of the environmental health and safety program (EH&S).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Physics, Radiation Biology, Radiochemistry, Physics or related field of study
  • Five (5)+ years related experience
  • Must have or be able to obtain proper licensing and certifications to perform essential functions of the job.
